Daily Take

Oil opened the week lower. Brent's January 2027 contract, now the front month, traded at about 108.66 dollars a barrel on ICE just before 8 a.m. New York time, down about 4 percent from Friday's settlement of 113.43. Euronews and Reuters tie the fall to hopes for talks in Qatar on reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's foreign minister said on Sunday that those talks continue without a definitive result, Turkiye Today reports, citing IRNA.

The shipping record tells a rougher story. The UK's maritime security service lists further attacks on Sunday, among them a vessel reported struck by an unknown projectile inside the strait, its incident list shows. Those are first reports, and they change none of our lanes.

The far end of the curve moved less. December 2027 traded at about 86.87, down about 1.4 percent. A fall led by the front is the shape a shrinking war premium would take. These are morning quotes, and the settlements our rules score come after the London close. The standing regime turns on the US-Japan policy gap, and Monday's tape does not touch it. The map does not change.

The scoreboard

How to read this: each lane is a standing idea about where capital is going. Rule is the condition we set in advance and whether it has been met; Thesis is where the idea stands today. Each lane ends with the next event that tests it. A lane with no new evidence keeps its last thesis state, and the card dates when that state was last assessed; lanes listed as carried forward keep their last stated reading and state. Each lane's history, and any end line we have registered, is public at theregimemap.com/lanes. Definitions: Glossary

Does the evidence fit the thesis while another explanation for the same evidence remains open? The card names that explanation.

Rule stateNOT FIRED

The condition has not been met. This label also covers a test whose required conditions were never present, and the card says which case applies. A test that needs a level to hold for two sessions stays NOT FIRED until the second session closes.

Rule stateINVALIDATED

The test can no longer be judged as written. Either its instrument, level or basis has been overtaken, or the invalidating event we named in advance has happened. We replace or retire an invalidated test openly, and we never change it quietly.

A test withdrawn without a resolved outcome. Its history records why it was retired and whether it was replaced.

Has enough evidence built up against the thesis that the thesis itself is in question, not just today’s move?

Rule stateFIRED

The test’s condition was met on the close it is judged on, and the card gives the date. A fired rule stays fired. If the price later moves back through the level, the rule is still fired. Only an invalidation can change it.
