Daily Take

Oil fell hard on Monday. Brent's January 2027 contract, in its first session as the front month, closed Monday at 104.77 dollars a barrel on ICE's daily record. That is about 7.6 percent below Friday's 113.43. Kitco and AP, as carried by Naharnet, tie the fall to renewed US-Iran diplomacy.

The attack reports kept pace with the talking. Attacks on tankers and an LNG carrier were reported from October 28 through November 1, gCaptain's roundup of shipping-security notices shows. On Monday, AP reported limited US defensive strikes on Iranian targets in the strait, citing an unnamed US official; we could not check the Pentagon's or Central Command's statements at source. Those reports cut against reading the fall as a durable de-escalation.

The far end of the curve moved less. December 2027 closed at 84.98, down about 3.6 percent, so the front fell about 2.8 times as far in dollars. Early Tuesday quotes had Brent back near 106. No rule of ours fires on Monday's prices. The standing regime turns on the US-Japan policy gap, and Monday's tape does not touch it. The map does not change.

The scoreboard

How to read this: each lane is a standing idea about where capital is going. Rule is the condition we set in advance and whether it has been met; Thesis is where the idea stands today. Each lane ends with the next event that tests it. A lane with no new evidence keeps its last thesis state, and the card dates when that state was last assessed; lanes listed as carried forward keep their last stated reading and state. Each lane's history, and any end line we have registered, is public at theregimemap.com/lanes. Definitions: Glossary

Thesis stateUNCONFIRMED

Does the evidence fit the thesis while another explanation for the same evidence remains open? The card names that explanation.

Rule stateNOT FIRED

The condition has not been met. This label also covers a test whose required conditions were never present, and the card says which case applies. A test that needs a level to hold for two sessions stays NOT FIRED until the second session closes.

Rule stateINVALIDATED

The test can no longer be judged as written. Either its instrument, level or basis has been overtaken, or the invalidating event we named in advance has happened. We replace or retire an invalidated test openly, and we never change it quietly.

Rule stateFIRED

The test’s condition was met on the close it is judged on, and the card gives the date. A fired rule stays fired. If the price later moves back through the level, the rule is still fired. Only an invalidation can change it.
